I've got an important midterm update for you, friend.

Right now, the GOP is on its heels. Voters loathe Republicans' war on reproductive rights and spineless fealty to Donald Trump.

Polls are looking better for Democrats nationwide, and according to The New York Times, traditional campaign donations are drying up for Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans.

Faced with this reality, the GOP has played its trump card: $1.6 billion in dark money shepherded by court-capture mastermind Leonard Leo.

The $1.6 billion can be deployed to phony front groups that fund TV attack ads, disinformation campaigns smearing Democrats, and voter suppression schemes. 

This is how big donors behind the GOP rig our politics. When playing fair doesn't work out for them, they spend big on playing dirty – and it works. Leo had a leading role in the $580 million – yup, $580 million – Supreme Court capture scheme that got Roe v. Wade overturned, and now, he's got $1.6 billion to throw around as he sees fit.

Secret special interests are wrecking our democracy, and transparency is the only solution. I'm fighting harder than ever to get dark money out of our elections. My DISCLOSE Act would take care of the problem once and for all. We could get a lot done to protect our democracy with a few more Democrats in the Senate. But to make that happen, we can't let Leonard Leo and Mitch McConnell use billionaire dark money to steal the midterms out from under us.
