John, this November, Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District has the opportunity to make history.

My friend and colleague Patty Pansing Brooks is running for Congress to unseat decades of ineffective and extreme leadership. As someone who's worked in tandem with Patty bringing progress for Nebraskans, I’ve seen just how fiercely she advocates for her community. She’s the only candidate fit to represent Nebraska’s First in D.C.

Patty and I have fought alongside one another to pass a Climate Action Plan and LGBTQ+ nondiscrimination laws in the workplace, and together, we’ve made important strides in the Unicameral. She has consistently been a leader in the fight to champion equality before the law, and she actually understands the issues our community cares about. John, Washington needs someone like Patty right now.

Her opponent, Mike Flood, has used his seat to chisel away at our most fundamental rights. He began his first day in Congress voting against a bill that would establish an Amber Alert-style system to notify people if there’s an active shooter nearby — and his votes have only gotten more dangerous. He’s voted against abortion, contraception, even gay and interracial marriage. He represents everything Patty and I fought against in the Legislature, and we can’t afford to have him in office for a full term.
