Team,
I wanted to make sure you saw this email from Senator Hashmi:
Two state Senators from Chesterfield. Two competing visions for Virginia. One fighting for demagoguery and the other for democracy.
Virginia’s critical progress in protecting abortion rights, public education, gun safety and so much more is hanging on by a single seat in the Senate. That single seat has managed to block terrible legislation proposed by the GOP-controlled House and the Governor. Legislation that sought to dismantle environmental protections, defund public education, restrict reproductive access, and harm LGBTQ+ children.

Hey,
With crucial elections all across the country – elections that will decide whether or not we protect Social Security, Medicare, our children’s education, and democratic values – I'm committed to helping elect Democrats everywhere.
That's why, even while visiting family in Gettysburg this past weekend, I took time to knock on doors for key elections in Pennsylvania, including Josh Shapiro for Governor and John Fetterman for U.S. Senate.
Meanwhile, the other state Senator for Chesterfield County (Amanda Chase), was also in Pennsylvania at the same time but for an entirely different purpose. She was there to support the former president at his rally, even as he faces charges for inciting an insurrectionist mob and for stealing classified documents.
Two state Senators from Chesterfield and two entirely different visions of Virginia: the contrasts cannot be more striking.
I commit myself each day to upholding the values inscribed in our Constitution and to defending the freedoms for which so many have died. Our children’s future depends on electing leaders who work for democracy – not for demagogues.
Every vote truly matters. Whether it’s at the federal level or within our states: democracy is hanging on by the slimmest of margins. And in Virginia, that margin is one vote and in just one Chamber: the Virginia Senate. That line runs right through Chesterfield County. Two state Senators and two competing visions of who and what we are, as Virginians and as Americans.
Please chip in now. We’ve got a lot of work remaining to do.
Senator Ghazala Hashmi
