Follow Us on Social President's Message We all know better than most that there is a severe shortage of school nurses. The majority of school nurses are employed by education and funded from regular/special education funds. Other funding for school nurses include health department, local organizations, federal, and state organizations. But the money isn't always there. And the people who fill the gaps sometimes aren't qualified to handle all that school nurses handle, from management of diabetes care and asthma to seeing the flu in schools, let alone all that is entailed in NASN’s Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice. ™ Listen in to Executive Director Donna Mazyck's interview with Kojo Nnamdi this week on the shortage of school nurses. I wish all of you a wonderful holiday season with friends and family and I look forward to seeing you in 2020! Laurie Combe, MN, RN, NCSN NASN President BETTER HEALTH.
