The Coalition Against Hate and Bias seeks new community-based?groups or?organizations to join the Coalition?s membership?to increase capacity?in?providing support to communities impacted by hate and bias incidents.?

Community groups and organizations interested?in joining the Coalition?must?participate in the administration of Survey123.?

For organizations and community groups interested in joining this effort,?please?submit a completed application by utilizing this form.?This application is not an application for funds, but upon acceptance into the Coalition, organizations will receive guidance and resources on how to administer the survey.??

Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Services Available for Nonprofits

King County and our partners can provide technical assistance and capacity building to community-based organizations and nonprofits receiving federal COVID-19 funding.

King County and the Office of Equity and Social Justice are committed to investing in capacity building and infrastructure for community-based organizations awarded federal COVID-19 grants and contracts. To provide technical assistance and capacity building, King County has allocated $400,000 through 2022 to contract with organizations and businesses that have the expertise to provide services to potential applicants and grantees.

Help King County Improve Equity, Affordable Housing, Climate Resilience?

King County is updating its Comprehensive Plan, a 20-year plan that guides land use in unincorporated areas (places outside of city limits). This update will focus on actions to address social equity, affordable housing, and climate change in our region. There will be many opportunities for the public to provide input during this year-long planning process, starting with two surveys in September.?

These short (6 and 7 question) surveys will ask for your thoughts on how King County should address affordable housing and climate change. The county would like to know?

• What types of housing make sense for our growing neighborhoods?
• How can we help residents stay in our communities as costs rise?
• How can King County help you stay cool in extreme heat?
• How can we help residents use less gasoline in their day-to-day lives?

King County will use the results of these surveys to guide studies and policies for the comprehensive plan, which will be available for public review and comment in early 2023. The county is also forming a community focus group that will meet over the next 12 months to help develop the plan update, which will include reviewing the survey results.

The group will make sure that the experiences of residents who are BIPOC, immigrants/refugees, or who have low incomes are centered in these early drafts.

Help Select Water Quality Projects Through Volunteer Committee

King County?s WaterWorks Grant Program is currently recruiting eight new members for the Grant Ranking Committee. This volunteer advisory group reviews, ranks, and recommends grant proposals for funding. Committee members are appointed by the King County Executive and King County Council. Over $2 million are awarded every two years for a variety of projects that improve water quality in the King County WTD service area. Committee applicants must reside in the King County?Wastewater Treatment Division Service Area and have interest or experience in water quality issues. There are seven Council District representative and one Water Quality Technical Specialist appointments open. Appointment terms are for three years, and committee duties include attending meetings during grant review years and reading grant applications.
