LT. GOVERNOR’S UPDATE
I grew up in a large Italian family. My childhood memories of the Holiday season include delicious Italian dinners, cookies I can still taste, and large family gatherings.
As my life changed, the Holidays changed as well. As the mother of two wonderful daughters, we crafted our own Holiday traditions, celebrating the Season for 12-days, enjoying each other’s company, small gifts, and home cooked meals. As my daughters have grown, our Holiday Season has continued to change. My daughter Darcy provided our family the greatest gift of all, my beautiful granddaughter Kailani. Following our family tradition, I have crafted Kailani her first stocking, matching the rest of the family.
I have been very fortunate in my life, and have always been around loved ones during the Holiday Season. It is this togetherness, with family and friends, that make the Season truly special for me.
However, I’ve learned that the Holidays are not a time of joy for all people. There are many members in our community that do not have the same access to a warm home, food on the table, and the love of family and friends. With that, I encourage you to reflect on the good fortune you have, extend an extra invite to that holiday dinner, and donate what you can to a worthy cause.
As Coloradans, we pride ourselves on our strong sense of community and taking care of our family, friends, and neighbors when in need.
I hope you and your loved ones have a warm and joyous Holiday Season.
