Dear John,
We’ve learned that when we work to empower women, we need to include men in the process if we want to see real change.
When Ipas Development Foundation (IDF)—Ipas’s partner organization in India—began training young people to share sexual and reproductive health information, they focused on female youth leaders. But they soon realized it was necessary to engage men as well to ensure women can exercise their right to safe abortion.
Now, IDF trains young men to share this crucial information. “When I talk to other men about sexual and reproductive health, I feel very proud that through sharing my knowledge, I am giving them the right guidance,” says youth leader Krishna Pingua.
You can watch Krishna Pingua talk about his passion for this work—and read about how he and other young men are making a difference in their communities.
