Click here Building an Economy That Works for Everyone Begins With YOUAt Prosperity Now, we know that despite the prevailing narratives on why people are poor, many are working multiple jobs, earning a degree and attempting to save the little that they can at the end of the month—all while continuing to fall further and further behind. For 40 years, Prosperity Now has worked to ensure that all people in the United States, especially people of color and low-income families, have a clear path to financial stability, wealth and prosperity. We are grateful for the support of people like you who have tirelessly committed time and energy to the success of our mission. Together in 2019, we… Increased the capacity of over 50 nonprofits of color in six cities across the U.S. to address economic inequality in their communities through our Building High Impact Nonprofits of Color project. Mobilized our networks to advocate for a $25 million in funding for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and got the VITA Permanence Act passed in Congress and signed into law! Secured an additional 75,000 children’s savings accounts (CSAs) to help low-income children and their families save for college through matched savings products. This puts us on track to provide 950,000 children and youth with a CSA by the end of 2020. Concluded a two-year pilot to incentivize 300 homeowners to save for emergencies by providing $200 in matched savings through Mortgage Reserve Accounts, resulting in 90% of the participants beginning or maintaining savings. Helped over 30 partner organizations build and implement community-centered financial stability pilot projects to improve and protect the economic security of African Americans in six cities: Des Moines, IA; Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN; Portland, OR; Seattle and Tacoma, WA. Will you help us do more in 2020 by donating today? Your contribution can help support communities and create an economy in which all families have a chance to prosper. With gratitude, Gary L.
