Monday, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie provided a keynote address to attendees at NAFCU’s 2022 Congressional Caucus. Christie focused his remarks on the state of politics in the United States ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, which will be held on November 8, 2022.
During the first day of NAFCU’s 2022 Congressional Caucus, Electronic Payments Coalition (EPC) Chairman Jeff Tassey, Senior Vice President and General Counsel and Chief Ethics & Government Affairs Officer at Alliant Credit Union Meredith Ritchie, and Senior Vice President and Head of U.S. Federal Affairs at Mastercard Amanda Slater, participated in a robust panel discussion, moderated by NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger, on credit card interchange policy.
NCUA Board Member Rodney Hood addressed credit unions during the first day of NAFCU’s 2022 Congressional Caucus sharing insights on the NCUA’s efforts to bolster financial inclusion and innovation. Hood also touched on supply chain constraints and inflation concerns but stated that he is “positive for the future of credit unions.”

To close out Monday’s Congressional Caucus presentations, members of NAFCU’s Legislative Affairs team sat down for a Lobbying 101 panel. Panelists included Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler, Senior Director of Legislative Affairs Chad Adams, and Associate Directors of Legislative Affairs Janelle Relfe and Jake Plevelich.
NAFCU wrapped up its Fall Large Credit Union Summit on Monday, bringing together leaders from several member credit unions to discuss key issues affecting their institutions and the industry-at-large. Credit unions with over $8 billion in assets attended a private meeting with the NCUA’s Office of National Examinations and Supervision (ONES) and credit unions with over $5 billion in assets attended a private meeting with the CFPB’s Office of Supervision, Enforcement & Fair Lending (SEFL).
Today, starting at 9:00 a.m. Eastern, NAFCU will kick off day two of the 2022 Congressional Caucus. NCUA Vice Chairman Kyle S.
