Friend,

Revolts are happening in Sri Lanka and the Netherlands.

Both are tied to their governments forcing “green” policies on their countries with harmful — even deadly — consequences.

They also reveal the dangers of green utopianism.

The Sri Lankan government banned chemical fertilizers until crop yields plummeted and food prices skyrocketed seven months later. The Dutch government wants to close thousands of farms to cut nitrogen emissions. This threat to jobs and food sources have led to mass protest from farmers.

Both of these governments are creating a manufactured crisis, Friend.

Let me introduce myself. I am Lawrence Reed, President Emeritus for the Foundation of Economic Education (FEE).

High school students need a pro-liberty, free market economic education to keep these policies from taking hold in our country. We must help them understand the deadly harm created by socialist green utopianism.

Watermelon politicians (green on the outside but red on the inside) and organizations like the World Economic Forum praise these policies without caring about the harm they have on people.

The people of Sri Lanka are starving due to the sudden decrease in crop yields because families cannot purchase groceries due to the drastic increase in price.

The New York Times reported that the price of rice shot up by nearly one-third, while prices for vegetables rose five times from the year before.

Families were starving, Friend, and the Sri Lankan people had no option but to revolt against their green-washed government.

The Netherlands is trying to close down thousands of farms. But each of those farms supplies the livelihoods of dozens of people. How will the workers on these farms take care of their families?

Closing down the farms would not only end thousands of jobs but cut thousands of food sources, which can only lead to price increases.

These are the effects that politicians are ignoring.

FEE is the leading organization for educating people about liberty. Politicians won't save you. It will be the next generation who knows of the horrors of socialism and green utopianism.

FEE reaches millions of 16- to 24-year-olds with our online content every year.

Last year alone, FEE:

We are also reaching out to high schoolers directly by providing an economic education in their own classrooms.

FEE in the Classroom is a unique program held in brick-and-mortar and virtual classrooms across the country. We teach young Americans the principles of free markets, individual liberty, and limited government.

FEE is challenging high school students to think outside the box and challenge the mainstream narrative.

The rising generation is our hope to set America back on track for economic success, but FEE can’t do it alone. Can you donate $25, $50, $100, or any amount? Click here to show your support >>>

In a single day, 75–300 students engage with FEE’s faculty of acclaimed instructors through compelling lectures, exciting economic experiments, engaging group discussions, and Q&As.

Students learn how the core principles of individual liberty and free-market economics apply to their daily lives, communities, careers, and the state of the nation.

One of the most frequently asked questions afterward is: “Why haven’t I heard these ideas before?”

Thousands of young Americans have come to understand the positive impact freedom has on their lives, their communities, and our country through FEE in the Classroom workshops
