A full-fledged effort from ALL elected offices is the only sure way to keep abortion safe and legal for everyone who needs it. That’s why we must seize the opportunity to elect Democratic women at EVERY level of government in the November midterms this year. 

I recently spoke with ELLE Magazine to explain how state legislatures, governors, attorneys general, and more play a crucial role in protecting abortion access for all – and why, at this critical moment, the resources, training programs, and support from Emerge matter so much for Democratic women running for office. Already, almost 21 million women have lost access to legal abortion in their home states. When we consider even more marginalized genders, that number gets higher. Worse, with extreme Republicans pushing their anti-choice agenda, we are facing the real threat of a nationwide abortion ban. 

The good news is that more Democratic women are stepping up and speaking out against extreme Republicans’ agenda every day. But no one, no matter how bold, skilled, or determined, can win make-or-break elections by themselves.
