John, we want to be transparent with you.
We know that you probably get a ton of emails from politicians and political groups asking for your contribution, and too many can be pretty annoying. We get it — they fill up our inboxes too! Real people wrote + edited + sent this email to you (Hi 👋 ), so we want to explain why we do it.
When we ask for your contribution, we know not everybody is going to chip in. We're asking you, though, because Jamaal has rejected the sort of dirty fundraising tactics that so many corporate-backed candidates use to fund their campaigns. Not one dollar of our campaign is funded by a corporate PAC.
Instead, Team Bowman is backed by a movement of people who support our cause to make sure NY-16 has a member of Congress who stands with our progressive vision. It's how we were able to unseat an incumbent in 2020 and send Jamaal to represent us up on Capitol Hill, and it's the only way we'll win reelection this year.
Other, establishment and conservative members of Congress run their campaigns differently from us. They rake in cash from corporate PACs and shady interest groups. They also send panicky, hyperbolic emails, or claim that your donation is somehow going to be "triple-matched" (whatever that means 🙄) as a way to get you to contribute.
We try to be as honest as possible with you, John. We really do have to raise money before this Federal Elections Commission deadline on 9/30, and we really do rely on the folks reading emails like this to do it. That's why we appreciate every single donation you make, and if everyone reading this email chipped in today, we'd hit our goal immediately.
Thank you for reading,
Team Bowman
