Far right radicals tried to silence the LGBTQ+ community, but they failed.

John,

This weekend I had the joy of attending Boise Pride. We had a beautiful time and so many amazing people came out to share in the joy of our community. It was just the lift my spirit needed.

You may have noticed Boise Pride trending on Twitter for most of the weekend when Republicans launched an assault on the LGBTQ+ community. I’ll tell you what happened in a moment, but first I need to ask for your help.

These attacks are meant to silence our community and force us into the shadows, which is why my candidacy is SO important. I’m the only openly gay man on the ballot for U.S. Senate this November. Can you pitch in $50 or $100 to help me stand up to hate and flip this seat?

Here’s what happened last week:

  • The Chair of the Idaho GOP, Dorothy Moon, started attacking the pride festival and scared a bunch of corporate sponsors into withdrawing their support.

  • Other far-right lawmakers joined in and ramped up the rhetoric even further, goading on their radical supporters with the hopes of shutting the festival down completely.

  • There were so many threats circulating that I was even urged by some not to attend.

I respectfully declined that advice, however, because I refuse to be silent in the face of blatant attacks on ordinary Idahoans who just want to live their lives freely and be happy. We will NOT hide in fear.

My message to Dorothy Moon and her ilk is simple: You may be able to bully CEOs and corporate sponsors – but you can’t bully me or the thousands of other Idahoans who came out to celebrate this weekend.

The right-wing radicals failed this time, but make no mistake, they will try again. It’s more important than ever that the LGBTQ+ community and all of our allies are VISIBLE.

That’s why our campaign’s pride pins are SO popular and I have to continuously restock them. In fact – I need to place another order today!

These pins cost the campaign 30 cents each. Can you help me raise $1,500 today to order another 5,000 pins so that every LGBTQ Idahoan and their allies can show their pride? Click here to donate: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/rothforussenate

Harvey Milk once said “Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”

The radicals who tried to shut down Pride failed – and they will continue to fail because their ideology of bigotry and hate is dying.

My hope is unwavering because I believe Idaho is worth fighting for, and I know our community stands strong.

Fighting for all of us,

- David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running to flip a U.S. Senate seat in Idaho. His opponent is an extremist “pro-life” Republican who’s been in politics for 37 years. David stepped up to serve the state that has been his home most of his life, where he is now raising his two young sons, because every state is worth fighting for. There has never been an openly gay man elected to the U.S. Senate. Help us make history this year. Pitch in now to flip this seat and send David to D.C.
