Time to kick off the week! Here's what you need to know:
The District Work Period has wrapped up! Following the tradition that dates back to 1970, Congress spent most of August and the first week of September back in their district and away from Washington. This allows members to spend extended time their districts to meet with constituents as summer comes to a close.
Stay tuned as I continue my work in Washington!
Here are some of the highlights from this year's District Work Period:
American Legion's 103rd National Convention
The American Legion, one of the nation's largest veterans' advocacy organizations invited me to speak at their 103rd National Convention. As a veteran, I know the work they do on behalf of those who served is unmatched. It was a privilege to be invited to speak in this year's event held in Milwaukee highlighting the accomplishments of the 117th Congress such as the PACT Act, which was passed by the House with my vote and recently signed into law.

Visit to New Berlin Sendik's Food Market with Wisconsin Grocers Association
I visited a Sendik's Food Market alongside the Wisconsin Grocers Association for an opportunity to chat with them about what grocers need to succeed right now. The current economy is impacting everyone and I’m continuing to work in close collaboration with our small businesses to effectively convey what they need out of Congress.
Lamplight Factory Tour
I visited Lamplight (which manufactures a variety of lamps for the TIKI Brand) in Menomonee Falls to discuss how the current economic environment is impacting their operations and how Congress can help.
Steel Craft Corp Factory Tour
I visited Hartford to tour Steel Craft Corp's factory which designs and builds a wide variety of steel products, including postal boxes. Congress must protect our manufacturers and I’m fighting to ensure they have every tool they need to succeed here in Wisconsin.
Kelbe Brothers Equipment Tour
I toured the Kelbe Brothers Equipment facility and spoke with them about the importance of infrastructure and opportunities to grow their workforce. I'm working to make it clear in Washington the priorities our small businesses need to see tackled by Congress.
National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors
I met with folks from the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, giving me the opportunity to hear about the work they are doing to provide a secure retirement for Main Street workers. Financial security is of top importance for Wisconsin families during this time of economic uncertainty.
Federal Home Loan Bank District Roundtable
I joined a roundtable comprised of Wisconsin financial institutions and trade associations who support low- and moderate-income mortgage lending and related community investments. It was great to hear the incredible work they've done in our communities and what Congress can do to help them do more.
Wisconsin Chiropractors Association
I spoke with representatives of the Wisconsin Chiropractors Association about how Congress can better allow them to serve individuals. Affordable, quality health care is a top priority of mine and I will continue to work to deliver that as your representative.
Kids Protection Agency
I appreciated the opportunity to speak about how Congress can best help fight child trafficking. Through my work on the House Judiciary Committee, I have been involved in many efforts to address this serious problem.
Telephone-Town Halls
Last week, I hosted two telephone-town halls bringing together thousands of constituents from across the district. I provided an update on my work in Congress and answered as many constituent questions. Thank you to everyone who participated!
