In an industry that often leaves out people of color, Jacqueline has boldly taken strides to ensure that the Black community has the representation they deserve. 

We applaud Jacqueline, the folks at the Chicago Urban League, and friends like you, who empower Black America by supporting the National Urban League and make such success stories possible. 

Jacqueline paid her dues as a florist and planner in the bridal industry. For 15 years, she witnessed firsthand how brides of color were ignored by the mainstream bridal industry. From the gown colors to the designs and sizes, the industry is far from inclusive. 

Jacqueline dreamed of opening a bridal shop focused on Black women. Few existed – and absolutely zero in her neighborhood.

It was at the Chicago Urban League that Jacqueline’s dream started taking tangible shape. Affiliate team members gave her invaluable business and marketing support, access to capital funders and connections with like-minded business owners.  Jacqueline was set up for success. 

This summer, she opened the FIRST black-owned bridal shop in Hyde Park, a racially diverse neighborhood of Chicago. Now, Jacqueline is uplifting others by featuring young Black designers who are traditionally left off the rosters at most bridal salons.

We applaud Jacqueline and those that empower her, including friends like you, for boldly taking strides to ensure the Black community has the representation they deserve.
