Hi John. I hope you’re holding up well!

Today, I wanted to share a few quick updates. We're hosting a new Pop Up office soon to help folks in Spring Hill. I've also had the pleasure of recently checking in with some of our local entrepreneurs, and I have some great news about the bipartisan infrastructure law.

By focusing on concrete and bipartisan solutions, I know we can keep building a better future together.

New Pop Up Office Hours at Spring Hill: Wednesday, September 14th

Bipartisan Bill to Help Women Owned Businesses in Kansas

The Women’s Business Center in Fairway, Kansas is a crucial investment in our local economy.

It offers trainings, workshops, counseling, and access to capital programs for women run businesses in our area. They reached over 800 clients just last year alone. This is a great Kansas success story that both parties can build on.

That’s why I’m working with Republicans and Democrats to pass the Women’s Business Center Improvement Act. It already passed the House with broad bipartisan support this year, and now we’re pushing to make it law.

The Culinary Center of Kansas City, a local woman-owned business, is a client of the Kansas City Women’s Business Center. Our bipartisan legislation ensures that Women’s Business Centers can help more entrepreneurs in Kansas and across the country.

Investing in women means investing in our economy.

That’s apparent to anyone who has the chance to listen to Laura Laiben of the Culinary Center of Kansas City. I was glad to check in with her last week and hear more about how the Women’s Business Center has helped her succeed.

I’ve been honored to work alongside my colleague, Republican Claudia Tenney of New York, to move our bipartisan bill forward – the Women’s Business Center Improvement Act. Our bipartisan bill would ensure more resources are available for Women’s Business Centers so they can expand their reach.

As Chair of the Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, I’m going to keep pushing to create better-paying jobs. Please click here to learn more about our bipartisan bill.

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Delivers: Cleaning Up Abandoned Oil Wells in the Kansas Third District

As the Vice Chair of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I was honored to work alongside both Republicans and Democrats to pass the new bipartisan infrastructure law.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce says the law is fiscally responsible, and now we’re seeing the results. That includes replacing lead pipes in Olathe and modernizing U.S. 69 in Overland Park.

And now, I’m pleased to announce that the Kansas Third District is receiving new support to cleanup abandoned oil wells. This will help reduce pollution, create better-paying jobs, and grow our economy.

The bipartisan infrastructure law’s impact on our state has proved momentous. The bipartisan law will help plug and remediate 243 wells in the Kansas Third District alone.

Some 81,000 abandoned drilling sites across the country are at risk of emitting dangerous pollution into nearby communities. Approximately 9 million Americans live within a mile of these hazardous sites, exposing families to critical threats.

In Kansas, wells are prioritized for action if they pose a threat to public water supply or safety. 14 sites are currently rated as high priority.

It is an incredible honor to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives. Good ideas can come from Republicans and Democrats – whether that’s rebuilding our infrastructure or cutting wasteful spending. Instead of more extremism and empty promises, I know we can keep building a better future together.
