This survey is to help define capabilities needs and priorities that are important to Paramedics. Please complete this survey by December 20th so we can summarize the results. CSA Group is pleased to announce the launch of a project to develop a new national Standard on Work Disability Management for the Paramedic Community, with a focus on addressing post-traumatic stress injury (PTSI).
This project is being funded under the Canadian Safety and Security Program (CSSP) managed through Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC) Centre for Security Science (CSS). Project partners providing support are: County of Renfrew Paramedic Service, Paramedic Association of Canada, Paramedic Chiefs of Canada, Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness, & Performance at Conestoga College Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, and the Centre for Research on Work Disability Policy (CRWDP).

Just five days after he said he wouldn't be rushed into it, Health Minister Ted Flemming has announced a professional reclassification for paramedics that could move them into a new union and award them higher salaries.
Flemming told the legislature that ambulance paramedics will be reclassified as medical-science professionals effective next April, a recognition that their jobs have become more complex and specialized.

Drafting my Presidents messages always brings with it a ton of reflection, how can I connect? What will resonate? Today, I reflect on recent interactions with some of our colleagues in other healthcare professions. In these encounters, they reminded me of how we, paramedics, are considered one of the spicier health professions. The perception is that paramedics tend to always have a strong opinion – and I believe there is something to that. I believe it is an earned perception that we lead with strength and assurance. Certainly, that is my experience, and I have come to understand it much more holistically on Council.

It’s been a very busy year for Winnipeg’s Fire and Paramedic Service.
The services says firefighters have responded to 702 structural fires so far in 2019, compared to 690 in total for 2018. As well, Fire Paramedic Chief John Lane told Global News Sunday that paramedics have conducted well over 50,000 medical transports this year.

NDP lawmaker Gurratan Singh says a recent change in regulations means a new respirator doesn't work properly for Sikh paramedics who practise what's known as kesh, keeping their beards and hair uncut.

At about 9:30 a.m., Halifax Regional Police received a report of an assault in progress in the 100 block of Solutions Drive, Const. John MacLeod said in an emailed statement.
"Officers have charged a 54-year-old Halifax man for assaulting two paramedics who were in the course of their duties," MacLeod said.
