Congress must pass the College for All Act.
Friend,
Throughout the pandemic, the federal government has repeatedly paused student loan payments. This has given borrowers a fresh start, allowing them to seek better-paying jobs, withstand this year’s record inflation, and contribute to the economy as we bounce back.
Now President Biden has gone a step further forgiving up to $10,000 of student loan debt for individuals making less than $125,000 (or married couples making less than $250,000). The administration will also be cutting monthly student debt payments in half, capping them at 5 percent of a person of a borrower’s discretionary income, and significantly increasing Pell Grants.
This is the right thing to do to give people a fair start in life, but we need to do more. The College for All Act will benefit our nation by making two- and four-year public colleges and universities tuition-free. Furthermore, the bill will erase those trillion-plus dollars in student debt through a tax on Wall Street, providing relief to millions of people and setting them on a path to success.
Sign if you agree: Congress must pass the College for All Act.
Higher education should be a right, not a privilege. And we must ensure that those who better themselves – and their communities – are not saddled with crippling debt.
In solidarity,
