Friend,
As a meteorologist, I’ve communicated with my viewers about the impacts of climate change for years. It’s becoming increasingly clear that those impacts will be felt in all areas of the country, including in Illinois’ 17th District.
In fact, a new study warns that Illinois will be squarely within an “extreme heat belt”, where dangerously high temperatures will threaten human health with increasing frequency as the planet warms.
One major reason I’m running to represent IL-17 is that we need leaders who will fight to address climate change and communicate about the issue clearly with constituents. And we don’t need more fossil-fuel money polluting our politics, which is why I’m not taking any contributions from the fossil fuel industry.
In contrast, my opponent Esther King wants to deregulate polluting industries – and she’s accepted tens of thousands of dollars in donations from the oil and gas companies fueling the climate crisis.
friend, if you’re ready to send a climate champion to Congress in November, chip in $5 today. Every dollar makes a difference.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
We need to move swiftly to slash our greenhouse gas emissions, and the Inflation Reduction Act is a strong first step in the right direction. But in order to reduce emissions in line with what the best available science is telling us, we need to elect more climate champions to Congress this year so we can speed up the clean energy transition and mitigate the dangers of extreme heat.
With your support, I believe we can defeat my fossil-fuel-funded opponent and win this election – for the good of the planet.
Thank you,
Eric
