More Exciting News from the Front Lines of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society Fleet
Dear John,
The Farley Mowat just arrived in the Northern Gulf of California on September 7th to resume Operation Milagro and the Martin Sheen is gearing up for its next campaign off Mexico. And now we are pleased to welcome to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society fleet the M/V Seahorse, an offshore support vessel. Earlier in the summer we had the M/V Tiger under contract, but it soon became clear that its sister ship, the Seahorse, would be a better fit for our direct action campaigns. We completed the purchase of Seahorse in August and it is currently being retooled for Sea Shepherd’s operations. We are preparing the ship for our expanded Operation Milagro, which is the next step in our 9 year partnership with the Mexican Navy to protect the endangered vaquita porpoise. Upgrades include a modernized electrical system, sanitization of the water filtration system, bolstering the navigation system, and new communications gear, specifically a new satellite system for strong data and communications transmittal.

Upon completion of its restoration, the Seahorse will depart Louisiana by way of the Mississippi River, head through the Panama Canal and engage in Operation Milagro by late October. Welcome Seahorse!

Farley Mowat Headed to ZTA Earlier
Than Any Previous Operation Milagro
The Farley Mowat embarked on Operation Milagro earlier than any previous year! Upon arrival, the Sea Shepherd crew immediately engaged in direct action, patrolling the Vaquita Refuge with the Captain later sharing that no fishing boats or nets were detected or discovered. We will remain vigilant throughout the totoaba fishing season as we defend the vaquita from poachers and the cartels. Look for more Sea Shepherd updates as the campaign grows to meet the challenges faced by one of the most endangered species on earth.

Cooking Up a Storm Vegan Cookbook
Sometimes it’s helpful to revisit some fundamentals. The Sea Shepherd fleet is vegan and always will be vegan. Join Sea Shepherd for dinner some night soon by purchasing the Cooking Up a Storm Vegan Cookbook by Laura Dakin, chief cook years ago on Sea Shepherd's flagship the Steve Irwin.
Featured are 80 of the crew's favorite vegan recipes-deliciously eclectic and modified for the family kitchen<[link removed]>. Throughout are beautiful recipe photos along with action shots of the crew at work. Interspersed are crew members' stories that illustrate the danger these ocean warriors face fighting IUU on the high seas.
