Dear John,

At the request of Alliance Defending Freedom and three high school female athletes, the U.S. government has agreed to investigate a situation in Connecticut that forces female athletes to compete against males.

Why is this important?

What’s happening in Connecticut isn’t isolated to that state. And activists are already pushing to rewrite federal laws by adding “gender identity” as a protected class.

What does this mean for you?

If gender identity ideology becomes enshrined in federal law, female athletes won’t be the only victims. People from all walks of life will suffer the consequences.

Medical professionals could be compelled to administer puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and even life-altering surgeries, including on minors. Children could be subject to medically unproven treatments imposed by transgender ideology. Women and girls everywhere could be forced to sacrifice their privacy and safety. And countless businesses, charities, and citizens—people like you—could face punishment if they dare to live out their faith.

This movement to redefine “sex” to include “gender identity” is a serious threat to your freedom, John.

And many government officials and far-left progressive groups like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) are its biggest champions.

There’s a lot at stake.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a teacher, doctor, business owner, concerned parent, or anyone in between. This affects all of us.

That’s why your year-end gift is urgently needed now.

We must stand firm for truth. We must be willing and ready to take action and defend freedom when it is threatened.

Alliance Defending Freedom is trusting God for $10.3 million by December 31 to finish the year strong so we can stand against growing legal attacks on your freedom.

Will you help?

Girls like Selina and Alanna are being cast aside

“I’m running against the boys today. I won’t win.”

Those were the words of high school sprinter Alanna Smith before a track meet earlier this year.

Alanna is a talented up-and-comer on the Connecticut track scene. This past June, she won the 400m dash at the 74th New England Interscholastic Track and Field Championships—as a freshman!

She has what it takes to win. She’s proven it.

But now, Alanna and other female athletes in Connecticut like Selina Soule are being forced to compete against boys. And the opportunity to win is being taken from them.

How could this happen?

Since 2017, Connecticut has allowed biological males who identify as females to compete in high school girls’ sports.

And these male athletes don’t just compete—they are dominating some of the best female athletes in the state—girls like Selina and Alanna.

Because of biology, these male athletes are significantly stronger. And they’re significantly faster. How can your daughters and granddaughters compete with that, John?

Think about this. Two high school male athletes in Connecticut who identify as female have won 15 women’s state championship titles that were once held by nine different girls.

Female athletes like Selina and Alanna are being cast aside. They are losing medals and podium spots to males, which could translate into lost scholarships. And many girls stay silent out of fear of retaliation and backlash.

But praise God that Selina and Alanna refuse to sit back or be bullied into submission while their athletic and academic futures are threatened. With the help of ADF, they filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education.

The federal government’s decision to move forward with an investigation is an important first step toward securing justice for these girls and others like them.

But you know that activists will oppose these efforts at every turn, John.

They won’t stop. They’ve proven that time and time again.

Your help is needed to stand up to activist government officials and groups like the ACLU and SPLC who are working to deny fairness to girls like Selina and Alanna.

Please prayerfully consider making a tax-deductible gift today so we can fight back now—and in the year ahead.

We have hope in God—and a way forward. Will you help?

Is this what people of faith should expect now? Being shamed into silence and attacked for speaking truth?

It could be if threats to your freedom go unchallenged in court.

We can’t let that happen, John.

ADF is committed to providing a strong legal defense for your constitutional freedoms, but we rely on your generosity to continue the fight.

The movement to redefine “sex” to include “gender identity” is growing. And the opposition is escalating their campaign to brand your faith as “hate” and punishable under the law.

Consider recent attacks by the SPLC.

The SPLC has labeled ADF as a “hate group” for defending people who are living and working consistently with their deeply held beliefs about marriage and human sexuality—beliefs you probably share, John. And they’re working to influence corporations, the media, and government officials to silence you.

If the SPLC and its allies get their way, our beliefs will no longer be welcome in the public square. And they won’t hesitate to try to steamroll whoever stands in their way, including young women like Selina and Alanna who just want a fair shot—and shouldn’t be forced to compete against men.

Thankfully, these brave young women have shown us the way forward. They’ve taken a stand. They refuse to be silent.

We must do the same.

That’s why it is critical that we are prepared—that we have the resources needed to push back.

Will you stand with us right now and make your tax-deductible gift today?

God is using your prayers and financial support to make important legal battles possible, John. Battles that have the potential to shape the future of freedom in America.

He is the source of our hope. And when we stand together, we can win. We do win.

Through God’s blessing (John 15:5) and your faithful support, you’ve helped ADF secure ten victories at the U.S. Supreme Court since 2011. And we’re winning nearly 80 percent of all our cases.

We are confident that many more victories lie ahead, so please continue to help us show up for the fight.

These legal battles affect all of us. If you want to help leave a legacy of freedom for your children and grandchildren, please act now.
