[email protected] IRC REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIRMAN Jay Kramer This past weekend several of us attended the quarterly RPOF meeting in Daytona Beach and had the privilege to hear Speaker of the Florida House (2022-2023 session), Paul Renner. He brought up a very important issue that not too many know about: ESG – Environmental, Social, and Governance. It refers to three key factors when measuring the sustainability and ethical impact of an investment in a business or company. He said that he stands up against the Wall Street titans, asset managers, e.g., Black Rock and Vanguard who are forcing scores for ESG on American companies that need to raise capital. Imposing ESG goals on America’s economy turns capitalism on its ear by replacing return on investment with social justice and climate change requirements that will threaten our pocketbooks, national security and even democracy itself. You need to acquaint yourself with these concepts because your investments and pension funds are indeed impacted by the trillions that these asset managers have at their disposal. GOVERNOR DESANTIS AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY HAVE ENDORSED JACKIE ROSARIO FOR SCHOOL BOARD VOTE NOVEMBER 8TH! DISTRICT 2 RE- ELECT INCUMBENT JACQUELINE "JACKIE" ROSARIO The common-sense conservative voice for school board. Endorsed by Governor Ron DeSantis Paid for by the REC of Indian River County. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate committee. Florida is setting an unapologetic pro-freedom, pro-parental rights, child-focused example in education for other states to follow. “The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.” ~Thomas Jefferson~ GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Patriot Day On September 11, 2001, our country suffered a devastating loss when acts of terrorism were committed on American soil resulting in the deaths of 2,977 individuals. May we never forget the valiant efforts of our military, first responders, and other emergency personnel who risked their lives to save others. In honor and remembrance of those we lost on that fateful day, I signed the attached Proclamation and hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida from midnight to midnight on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Governor Speaks at Heritage Education Freedom Report Card Launch Governor Ron DeSantis spoke at the unveiling of The Heritage Foundation’s 2022 Education Freedom Report Card where he highlighted Florida’s number one ranking. The report lauds Florida’s dedication to education transparency, regulatory freedom, and return on investment, praising our state’s rejection of critical race theory and championing of school choice and educational savings accounts. “When other states were locking people down and keeping their kids out of school, we made sure kids were in school because we put their well-being before politics,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “While states like California, New York, and Illinois that denied in-person education to their children are now suffering from plummeting educational outcomes, Florida’s schoolchildren are thriving because we invest in our students, and we empower parents to decide what learning environment is best for their kids. Thank you to The Heritage Foundation for recognizing our success and ranking Florida number one in the nation for education freedom.” Throughout his time in office, Governor DeSantis has made education a top priority. By enshrining parents’ rights, expanding school choice, raising teacher pay, promoting civics education, bolstering workforce education, and holding higher education accountable, Florida is leading the way and is an educational model for the nation. Heritage ranked District of Columbia schools 51st in the nation, chased by New York, 50th and New Jersey 49th. Florida National Guard Activated to Assist Florida Department of Corrections On Friday, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 22-213 activating the Florida National Guard to assist the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) in an effort to reduce overtime and provide relief for correctional officers on a temporary basis. During the 2022 Legislative Session, Governor Ron DeSantis approved record pay increases to recruit and retain corrections officers. These historic pay increases and other incentives have shown early signs of success, with a net gain of nearly 640 officers since the conclusion of the 2022 session, compared to a net loss of more than 465 in the same amount of time prior. As these successful measures continue to bring more highly qualified officers to the FDC, this action and partnership will address officer vacancies on a temporary, short-term basis. A copy of Executive Order 22-213 can be found here. Governor DeSantis Endorsed by Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s FarmPAC “The men and women of Florida’s agriculture industry put food on the table for millions of people in our state and across the nation” Governor Ron DeSantis received an endorsement from the Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s FarmPAC, the state’s largest agriculture grassroots organization. The Governor and members of the Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s FarmPAC hosted an event at the Florida Strawberry Growers Association in Dover, Florida to announce the endorsement. “Florida has a rich agricultural history and is home to more than 45,000 farms across nearly 10 million acres of our state. The men and women of Florida’s agriculture industry put food on the table for millions of people in our state and across the nation. As Governor, I am proud to have stood up for rural communities and look forward to providing continued support for our farmers and ranchers across Florida,” Governor DeSantis said. “Our industry cannot afford to lose Governor DeSantis’s support in Tallahassee, and Charlie Crist will not be the friend that Governor DeSantis has been. Governor DeSantis understands the value of hard work and dedication, which translates to efforts that allow our industry to thrive. I am honored today to announce the endorsement of the Florida Farm Bureau FarmPAC for Governor Ron DeSantis’s reelection,” Jeb Smith, President Florida Farm Bureau. First Lady Casey DeSantis Meets with Female Faith Leaders On Friday, First Lady Casey DeSantis welcomed female faith leaders from across Florida into the Governor’s Mansion to discuss her Hope Florida initiative and identify additional ways to partner with Florida’s churches and faith institutions to meet the needs of Floridians. “I have been proud to witness the dedication of our Florida faith-based communities in providing for our vulnerable children, families and elderly,” said First Lady Casey DeSantis. “Not only have you been a force of prayer, but also trailblazers in caring for your neighbors’ needs. We recognize the significance of all you have done on behalf of Floridians. Today, we wanted to bring this group of faith leaders together to communicate and collaborate on how we can continue to support each other and our neighbors.” “It is an honor to be part of our first Women of Faith event and to be able to share with these incredible women of our state” said Erik Dellenback, the Governor’s Liaison for Faith and Community. “I am truly grateful for the tireless work and passion of First Lady Casey DeSantis to be a connector between some of our state’s most vulnerable and our faith and community organizations who stand ready to help.” Spearheaded by First Lady DeSantis and implemented by the Florida Department of Children and Families, Hope Florida – A Pathway to Prosperity breaks down traditional community silos to unite the private sector, faith-based institutions, non-profits and government entities to maximize resources and uncover opportunities for Floridians in need. ‘Hope Navigators’ look beyond government to help individuals identify their immediate needs while developing long-term goals, to guide Floridians on an individualized path to prosperity, economic self-sufficiency and hope. Last month, the Hope Florida initiative expanded to the Department of Elder Affairs with Hope Florida – A Pathway to Purpose to support Florida’s elders and provide opportunities for seniors to volunteer. ATTORNEY GENERAL ASHLEY MOODY September is National Preparedness Month September is National Preparedness Month, and this week, The AG encouraged Floridians to remain vigilant should a hurricane threaten their homes and families. National Preparedness Month coincides with the peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season and raises awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. “We’ve been lucky for the relatively calm hurricane season so far, but the second half of the season tends to be more active. So, I am urging all Floridians to not let their guards down, reevaluate their current storm safety plans and make any necessary adjustments.” The Florida 2022 Hurricane Preparedness Guide contains information and tips for staying safe before, during and after a storm. Some tips from the guide include: Know evacuation routes and shelter locations; Stock up on enough food, water and emergency supplies for you, your family and pets for at least seven days; and Verify that storm-related products are hurricane-proof or impact-proof before purchasing. For more information, click here. Floridians can stay informed about storm events at FloridaDisaster.org. To monitor activity visit NHC.NOAA.gov. In the event of an incoming tropical storm or hurricane, please seek further guidance from local officials and emergency managers. Florida Professional Firefighters Endorse Ashley Moody for Re-election The Florida Professional Firefighters (FPF) has endorsed Attorney General Ashley Moody for re-election. On behalf of the more than 26,000 Florida Professional Firefighters and Paramedics, I am proud to announce our membership’s endorsement of Attorney General Ashley Moody for re-election,” said Florida Professional Firefighters President Wayne “Bernie” Bernoska. “No stranger to the needs of Florida’s first responders, Attorney General Moody has proven that she is willing to protect Florida’s firefighters, and we are glad to have her on our side fighting for us. This endorsement for her re-election is one way we are able to show our appreciation and support.” In a news release, Moody thanked the association, which boasts a membership of over 26,000 firefighters and emergency medical services personnel, for supporting her campaign. “I am extremely proud to have the Florida Professional Firefighters’ endorsement and support. Their membership – including so many firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs across the state – works hard to ensure they are ready in a crisis to serve and protect their fellow Floridians. As Attorney General, I look forward to making sure our decisions and policy support them in their mission driven, lifesaving work,” said Moody. SENATOR MARCO RUBIO Rubio and Florida Congressional Delegation Petition USTR to Protect Florida Growers from Unfair Trade Practices by Mexico For more than 20 years, Mexico has leveraged heavy subsidies and low wages in a scheme to conduct a “conquest of external markets” and displace Florida’s seasonal and perishable agricultural industry from the domestic U.S. market. U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Representative Al Lawson (D-FL) led bipartisan members of the Florida congressional delegation to petition U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai to initiate a Section 301 investigation of fruit and vegetable imports from Mexico, and to secure trade relief for Florida growers. “The Biden Administration has affirmed its intention to protect and reinvigorate critical supply chains within the U.S., including agricultural supply chains. Mexico’s export targeting scheme, which is affecting U.S.-grown produce during the winter and spring months, is a direct threat to this objective. As this petition discusses, and as various government entities, including the U.S. Trade Representative, have confirmed, seasonal and perishable industries such as Florida’s generally do not enjoy access to trade remedies. The provisions of Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, however, are uniquely suited to investigate Mexico’s trade-distorting practices and policies and provide urgently needed relief to Florida’s growers.” – members of the Florida congressional delegation Apart from Senator Rubio and Representative Lawson, the members who signed the petition are: Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), Representatives Bill Posey (R-FL), Maria Elvira Salazar (R-FL), Gregory Steube (R-FL), Neal Dunn (R-FL), Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), John H. Rutherford (R-FL), Scott Franklin (R-FL), Byron Donalds (R-FL), Brian Mast (R-FL), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL), Kat Cammack (R-FL), Daniel Webster (R-FL), Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL), Carlos Gimenez (R-FL), Darren Soto (D-FL), Michael Waltz (R-FL), Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Frederica Wilson (D-FL), Kathy Castor (D-FL), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), and Ted Deutch (D-FL). Read the full petition here. Senator Rubio: Congress Must Pass the Give Kids a Chance Act Without Delay I n 2017, Congress passed the RACE for Children Act, which Sen. Bennet [D-CO] and I wrote to streamline the approval of pediatric cancer drugs and require that single-drug therapy trials be applied to children as well as adults. According to the chair of the Children’s Oncology Group, it was a “huge…game-changer.” Our new bill [the Give Kids a Chance Act] builds off of that law’s success to help more children…. In combination therapy trials, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approves patients’ advance access to innovative combinations of molecularly targeted oncology drugs or biologics. It’s one of the primary ways in which doctors develop new, life-saving cancer treatments. But because of outdated red tape, children suffering from pediatric cancers are stuck with less effective, single-drug treatments. There isn’t a good reason to deny children battling a horrible disease the care they need. Fortunately, we…can make even more progress by…expanding the RACE for Children Act’s pediatric study requirement to combination therapy trials. That is what our Give Kids a Chance Act would do. The Pediatric Oncology Section Head of Children’s Hospital Colorado confirms that our bill would “increase access to combinations of target cancer drugs” and bring new hope to “children and families who most need new treatment options.” Nor is that the only testimonial it has received. Dozens of hospitals, advocacy groups, and pediatric cancer research organizations have endorsed the Give Kids a Chance Act…. The House of Representatives has already incorporated a companion piece of legislation…into its version of the FDA user fee reauthorization bill. Now it’s time for the House and Senate to incorporate the Give Kids a Chance Act into the final reauthorization bill, before those fees expire at the end of September, and pass it as soon as possible…. PPP RECIPIENT: ‘MARCO RUBIO REALLY HELPED A LOT OF PEOPLE.’ Marco Rubio’s Senate campaign released a new ad highlighting how Marco’s Paycheck Protection Program saved Florida jobs and small businesses. The Paycheck Protection Program was called, “the single most effective fiscal policy ever undertaken by the United States Government,” by Douglas Holtz-Eakin, former director of the Congressional Budget Office. Click HERE or below to watch the ad, “Diego’s.” Unity - Come Together to Win in November As we approach the 2022 mid-term elections and the 2024 presidential election, and in light of the abject failure of the Biden administration, we know that the very survival of our republic depends on the outcome of those elections. Therefore, we must stay unified. Never lose sight of who our political opponents are… the progressive left Democrats who are taking our country off a cliff with the active help of Big Tech and the old-line national news media. Our fellow Republicans are not the enemy!
