Friend,
Today, I join each of you in a time of mourning and reflection over the events of September 11, 2001.
Twenty-one years ago, terrorists wreaked havoc on our nation, killing almost 3,000 Americans in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Their actions catapulted a conflict in the Middle East that lasted more than two decades, finally coming to a close under the direction of President Biden.
As we look back on that solemn day, we are reminded of not only the beautiful souls our country lost to an act of such tragic violence but the courage and bravery each and every one of them exhibited down to their final moments. We also honor the first responders – from firefighters to police officers, to volunteers, and ultimately, to our men and women in the military – who sprung to action to save American lives at the sacrifice of their own.
This day will forever live in history as a time when our country stood strong, hand in hand, in the face of evil and vowed never to let it overcome our nation again.
Today, I remember the heroism, bravery, and selflessness shown so many years ago and in the years since, and I mourn the deaths of those we lost.
In remembrance,
