We Will Never Forget

Dear Texans,

I will never forget that morning 21 years ago when I first saw the news that a plane crashed into the World Trade Center and watched as people tried to escape what looked like a war zone. When the following planes crashed into the second tower, the Pentagon, and then in Pennsylvania, the scenes left me and every American that day in utter disbelief.

September 11, 2001 will forever be ingrained on every Americans' heart. As we mourned the loss of thousands of innocent lives, we all joined feeling the immense animosity towards those who attacked our Nation. As time continues to pass, generations will never know or understand what that day was like for so many of us who can remember it all too vividly. It is critical that we continue to reflect and explain the significance of 9/11 so that no generation forgets about that fateful day.

Today, we honor the innocent lives we lost, the heroes who sacrificed themselves in their attempt to save others, and our servicemembers who answered the call to serve and defeat evil. Our Nation will never forget the memory of the all those we lost over two decades ago and the day that forever changed our country’s history.
