Dear John,
It is hard to believe it’s been 21 years since the attacks of 9/11. While that day was a tragedy for all of us as Americans, it was truly horrific for 2,977 families. Parents lost their sons and daughters… spouses lost their husbands and wives… and children lost their moms and dads. The void left behind was — and still is — devastating for these families.
I know you agree that every human being is valuable. Each is made in the image of God and has inherent worth to the Lord and to us.
That’s why on this day, I hope you’ll join me in remembering the 2,977 men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. You and I are called to mourn with the families who still mourn the loss of loved ones (Romans 12:15).
And in Galatians 6:2 — “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” As today’s anniversary brings up pain and grief, I pray these families know the Lord and experience His comfort.
Will you join me in praying for them today? Here are some specific things to pray over these families, that they will:
-
Stand firm in the Lord today (1 Corinthians 16:13–14)
-
Rejoice in Him always (Philippians 4:4).
-
Remember that God is near to them (Psalm 34:18)
-
Take their anxieties to the Lord, and that His peace —which surpasses all understanding —will guard their hearts and mind in Jesus (Philippians 4:6–7).
On days like today, I can’t help but be reminded that being pro-life is so much more than valuing life in the womb. All of life matters to God and because it does, we mourn with those grieving the loss of life that occurred 21 years ago today.
Thank you for praying for these families.
God Bless,
Jeff Bradford
