Today marks the 21st anniversary of the September 11th attacks that devastated not only our nation but the world.

The implications of 9/11 have become embedded within the collective consciousness of all Americans and will forever remain a heartbreaking stain on the fabric of our society. When I think back on September 11th, I am reminded of tragedy and the lives that were lost, and the many survivors who still experience the mental and physical repercussions of that fateful day.

But team, I also remember the bravery that followed in the face of such unfathomable and immense loss. The perseverance of the American spirit was on full display. And from this, we should all draw hope.

While the flames were still burning, nurses, EMTs, firefighters, and countless others ran toward the fire to save their fellow countrymen. Elected officials from both sides of the aisle came together to secure the resources necessary for recovery efforts.

In the wake of the 21st anniversary of 9/11, we must remind ourselves of how our country came together – despite our differences – to rebuild. And as we work toward building a better tomorrow, I hope we can work together again to build a stronger democracy – one that works for all of us.
