I graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy 109 days before 9/11. That horrific day shaped my entire military service. But even during those dark times we saw the strength of America shine though.
I served alongside some of the bravest men and women I’ve ever known—true patriots who love our country and risked everything to defend our way of life. I remember how we came together to grieve the 2,977 deaths we suffered In New York, D.C., and Pennsylvania. I’ll never forget the first responders who rushed to the scene, risking their lives to save others.
America is a great nation because of our love of country and our commitment to shared values that are bigger than any one of us. We can never forget that.
Today I am thinking about our brave military, law enforcement, and first responders, and I am grateful to them for everything they do. And, I hope you’ll join me in taking a moment today to reflect on the lives we lost on September 11, 2001.
United, we are stronger.
Thanks for your support, and God bless America.
