John,

On the anniversary of September 11th, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost and the families and friends left behind.

Twenty-one years ago today, it seemed as if the world had come crashing down, and for those who lost their family members and loved ones, it did. But from this horrible tragedy, the United States emerged stronger and more resilient.

The firefighters, paramedics, and police officers who put their lives on the line to rescue people trapped underneath the rubble demonstrated our collective resolve. Those in uniform who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect Americans at home and abroad made it clear that the United States will never stand for such terror.

Two decades later, we still feel pain and grief for our nation and those no longer with us. We also feel the courage and determination that these attacks stirred deep inside, knowing we would never forget those we had lost.

In solemn remembrance,

Shontel Brown
