Hawaii Republican Party Statement on Impeachment Vote

Honolulu, Hawaii – Dec 18, 2019 – According to local Republican leaders, despite widespread opposition throughout the country, Democrats in the House of Representatives moved forward with two articles of impeachment against President Trump. This was strictly a party-line vote and marked the first time in history impeachment has been weaponized by one party. Hawaii Republicans believe that Democrats know they cannot beat Donald Trump in 2020 which is why they are focused on stopping him with this sham impeachment.

The Hawaii GOP Party Chair, Shirlene Ostrov, stated, “History was made today, but not in a way Democrats had hoped. With this vote, Nancy Pelosi and her fellow impeachment crusaders have ensured the reelection of President Trump and a return of a Republican majority in the House. The American people have turned on this partisan sham and see Democrats in Congress for what they truly are: politicians whose sole focus is to overturn the result of the 2016 election, not on the real issues they promised to address. In 2020, voters will re-elect President Trump and choose candidates who will truly work on their behalf instead of obsessing over destroying a duly-elected President."

Trump Campaign Chairman AL Frenzel commented that statewide enthusiasm for President Trump continues to reinvigorate local Party membership and will result in successes up and down the ballot. He stated that as Democrats remain solely focused on impeachment, President Trump continues to achieve real results for all Americans. According to Frenzel, last week alone, President Trump achieved:
* Progress that gets us closer to ratifying the USMCA
* Announced phase one of a historic trade deal with China
* Confirmation of the 50th Appeals Court judge
* Signed an Executive Order targeting anti-Semitism
* Agreements on paid family leave and Space Force

According to Ostrov, the Hawaii Republican Party is wholly focused on bringing a vibrant two-party system back to Hawaii and giving Hawaii voters a real choice in the way they are governed. The Hawaii Republican Party is excited for the 2020 election cycle and working hard at key local and state races with exciting new candidates and bringing a brighter future for the people of Hawaii.
