Republicans have openly admitted that they will end Social Security. We must act now to save it.

Hi,

In February, Senator Rick Scott — the head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee — announced the Republican plan to phase out Social Security within five years.1

Now, more and more of his Senate Republicans are jumping on board.

Senator Ron Johnson just said he would strip guaranteed funding for Social Security and make it “discretionary” every year.2 Senator Ron Paul said he would privatize it and put Wall Street in charge.3

For decades, Republicans have been quietly scheming to gut Social Security, but now they’re openly admitting they want it on the chopping block. That’s why it’s time to pass legislation to strengthen and ensure its success for future generations.

Demand Progress is turning up the heat on Congress to pass the Social Security 2100 Act. Will you chip in to support our work?

Social Security is one of the most successful government programs in history. It just celebrated its 87th birthday, and without it, millions of American seniors would fall into abject poverty.

That’s why most observers expected that Republicans would back off their plans to destroy Social Security. Instead, they just keep doubling down.

The Social Security 2100 Act would expand benefits and permanently shore up funding by lifting the cap on how much millionaires and billionaires pay into the fund. Demand Progress has been gathering petitions generating pressure on Congress to pass this critical bill before it’s too late.

Will you make a donation to support our work, including stopping the Republican plans to kill Social Security?

With gratitude for all you do,

Tihi and the team at Demand Progress Action
