‘For seven decades, the Queen has served as head of state of Canada and our fellow Commonwealth nations with grace, dignity, and quiet strength. Her leadership through some of the most tumultuous moments of modern history has been a source of reassurance, stability, and hope for generations of Canadians.’
CIJA and Canada’s Jewish Federations issued a joint press release <[link removed]> immediately following the announcement of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II expressing admiration for the Queen’s long and meaningful reign as well as condolences to her family and all who mourn her passing.

Antisemitism remains a pervasive problem in Toronto and across Canada. Despite the fact that Jews comprise less than 4% of the city’s population, for more than five years antisemitism has been the most widely reported hate crime in Toronto.
Much of antisemitism is rooted in ignorance, and the best way to combat it is through education.
With guidance from a Community Advisory Committee, which included Sheba Birhanu, CIJA’s Associate Director of Partnerships, the City of Toronto officially launched a new Toronto For All <[link removed]> public education campaign to raise awareness about the realities of antisemitism in the community today and to help to dispel the notion that antisemitism is ‘old news.’
Our hope is that the Toronto for All <[link removed]> campaign will illuminate the challenges faced by the Jewish community and that it will inspire all Torontonians to unite against antisemitism. The campaign will appear on transit shelters throughout Toronto, on City social media channels, and on www.toronto.ca <[link removed]>.

Late in August, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh sent an email <[link removed]> to supporters setting out his party’s demands regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It used divisive rhetoric that infantilizes Palestinians, demonizes Israelis, ignores the reality on the ground, and does nothing to advance peace in the region.
Join us in calling on Mr. Singh and the NDP to stop using rhetoric that infantilizes Palestinians, demonizes Israelis, and will not lead to peace in the region.
