Today, we pay our respects to those whose lives were stolen from us in unspeakable acts of terror exactly 21 years ago…
We must never forget the tragedy that took place on American soil September 11, 2001.
As we remember the lives that were lost, let us also remember the bravery of our first responders who ran directly towards the attacks in order to save countless lives. We can never repay the selflessness they displayed that day.
In addition, to those who were called to fight the radical groups who committed these atrocities overseas: your sacrifice will not be forgotten. This service was not in vain, and America owes you a debt of gratitude just as well.
This day evoked tremendous grief and heartbreak – but also tremendous heroism. We showed that the American spirit is not something that is easily fractured!
Thank you for joining me in solemn remembrance on this 21st Anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.
