Hello,
Twenty-one years ago, our Nation faced the most deadly terror attack in its history. We lost our innocence that day, our sense of security, and so many of our family, friends, and neighbors. Yet we never lost hope.
In the aftermath of that terrible day, Americans showed courage in ways big and small. The heroes on Flight 93 likely saved the United States Capitol from destruction. First responders answered the call of duty in New York, Washington, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Good Samaritans put themselves in harm's way to help others. Men and women signed up to defend our nation abroad in our Armed Forces. Millions donated blood and helped shattered communities rebuild.
These acts of selflessness and bravery in the midst of unspeakable horror united us as a Nation and reflected the very best of the American spirit. We must continue to draw inspiration from them as we continue to lift up our communities and defend our freedoms, whether on the battlefield or at the ballot box.
Today, on the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, I hope you will join me in taking the day to honor those we lost by praying for their families and serving your community. You can find an opportunity to get involved at www.911day.org.
Thank you,
Bob Casey
