John,

I wanted to write this email to you about this solemn day for New York and
our country.

Every New Yorker remembers September 11, 2001 in vivid detail. Today, 21
years later, we pay tribute to those that we lost and how that day changed
our lives and our nation permanently. I remember the paranoia at my
school, the fear we felt across the city of New York, and the gratitude we
had and still have for the first responders who risked their lives and
their health to rescue people.

Every 9/11 we honor the lives lost and honor their memory, and today it
will be my honor to join with people around NY-16 in remembrance and
mourning.

This is a hard day for our community every year, but one where we can
resolve to build an even stronger New York and an even safer nation. I
hope you take a moment to reflect today, and I wish you the best.

Peace and love,

Jamaal Bowman
