Exactly 21 years ago today, at 8:46 a.m., the unimaginable happened.
2,977 lives lost.
So many more destroyed in the days to follow.
I hope you'll join me in taking a few moments this morning to remember those who are no longer with us as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
I think back on the uplifting words of Rudy Giuliani, New York City's mayor at the time:
"The attacks of September 11th were intended to break our spirit. Instead we have emerged stronger and more unified. We feel renewed devotion to the principles of political, economic and religious freedom, the rule of law and respect for human life. We are more determined than ever to live our lives in freedom."
On this day, Sept. 11, 2022, let's honor the Americans we lost exactly 21 years ago,
celebrate those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and again make sure that we never, ever, forget.
