Hello,

ASPIRE works tirelessly to support progressive candidates for Congress who are leaders in communities that haven’t always (or ever) been represented in our political institutions. We do this because we know that our institutions work better for all of us if they represent all of us and listen to all of us. But at the heart of it is the foundational belief that these institutions can work.

Today, we saw that in action.

Congress has a duty to the American people to defend the Constitution, even if -- especially if -- the threat to the Constitution comes from the White House. The president abused his power to try to strong-arm Ukraine into interfering with our upcoming elections on his behalf and then undermined the rule of law by blocking witnesses from testifying before Congress and preventing agencies from providing evidence subpoenaed by Congress.

Young people are paying attention. They need to see that our institutions guard against this type of willful abuse of power -- that this democracy we’re asking them to take part in can function as intended and keep us moving forward.

The 116th Congress is the most diverse in history, and it has fought for our Constitution every step of the way. I wish this hadn’t come to pass, but I’m proud that my children and all of our children are seeing this Congress defend everything we stand for.

Thank you,
Grace
