Hello,

Today's vote to impeach the president is historic, but it's important to remember it's not the end of anything.

This vote reflects the constant work Congress does to ensure the rule of law in America -- the work we'll continue to do every day we're in office. It's our constitutional duty to be a check on the executive branch, to investigate, and put an end to abuses of power that undermine our laws and our elections.

And that doesn't end with this vote.

You elected a progressive majority to the House in 2018 in order to ensure that everyone in the White House would be held accountable for their actions. You elected a progressive majority in order to hold lobbyists and foreign influences and dark money donors accountable. That work is on-going, and it's more important than ever.

So on this historic day, I want to say how grateful I am that you're with us today, but even more so tomorrow as we move forward in defending our democracy.
