Just minutes ago, the House of Representatives voted to pass the resolution for the articles of impeachment. From here, it will be the Senate's job to hold an impartial and just trial.

The important word here is job. I'm new to the political field, but as a teacher and small-business owner, I hear "job" and know that there are responsibilities I must fulfill in order to do it well. The same can't be said for Joni Ernst.

Senator Ernst has not said she'll hold the president accountable for his abuse of power and make sure the trial he receives is impartial, just, and not clouded by toxic partisanship. She seems perfectly content to follow McConnell's lead (and Trump's orders) and not hear from a single witness.

Ernst is shrugging off the will of her constituents -- blatantly ignoring her job to represent her constituents -- and saying what Iowans want doesn't matter.

Plain and simple: Joni Ernst is putting party over country and her constituents.
