As we get closer to the November 8 midterm elections, disinformation is
everywhere. Whether we’re looking at the big lie of election theft, scare
tactics surrounding trans people in sports, or banning books to rewrite
our history, the threat of misinformation is an ever-present danger to our
democracy -- just ask the January 6th insurrectionists. 

The MAGA Republican playbook is clear: Use whatever story is most
convenient to assure their own victory. Truth has never been a cornerstone
of their movement. As FiveThirtyEight recently noted, “60 percent of
Americans will have an election denier on the ballot this fall.” The
majority of our country is faced with the perpetuation of a myth that has
been debunked over and over. Lies are not just on our screens, they are on
the ballot. 

But, how do you fight a lie?
