Dear Friends,

After careful deliberation and seeing all the evidence presented during Congressional hearings, I decided to support the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump.

I did not come to Congress to impeach the President. I ran for office to bring down health care and prescription drug costs, raise wages, fix our trade agreements, rebuild our infrastructure, combat the opioid epidemic, and expand opportunities for our children and grandchildren.

BUT I TOOK AN OATH OF OFFICE TO DEFEND AND PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION, AND THAT IS NOT A RESPONSIBILITY I TAKE LIGHTLY. Make no mistake: this was by no means an easy decision. But the President’s actions left me no choice.

After thoroughly reviewing the testimony and evidence presented over the past several weeks, it is beyond clear to me that President Trump abused the powers of his office to put his own political interests above the interests of the American people.

Moving forward, I will continue to work with my Republican and Democratic colleagues to tackle the bread and butter issues that matter to so many Americans.
