Dear John,
It’s been almost 80 days since a conservative majority in the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the historic Roe v. Wade decision – striking down the constitutional right to abortion.
Since that day, 14 states have passed total or near-total bans on abortion, and several other states across the country are looking to pass their own bans.
We’ve seen children having to be smuggled across state lines to receive healthcare. We’ve seen women pushed to the brink of death before doctors can step in. We’ve seen story after story of families trying to make the best decisions for themselves, only for draconian state governments to step in.
This is infuriating and devastating, and unfortunately, only the beginning.
Make no mistake: Women will die because of abortion bans, and my opponent, Mike France, wants to roll back Connecticut’s abortion laws and strip women of the right to make their own decisions about their bodies.
I’m the only pro-choice candidate in this race, and I have the record to prove it. In the 1990s, as a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives, I voted to codify abortion rights into law, giving Connecticut residents statutory protection with some of the strongest reproductive rights in the country. We can’t let radical extremists like Mike France undo that progress.
I have stood against the ultra-conservative anti-choice movement for decades, and I’m not ready to stop. We need fierce reproductive freedom defenders in Congress, and John, I promise to be that. Together, we will stand up for the right to bodily autonomy for all Americans, and we will not stop fighting until there is freedom and justice for all.
Together,
