We couldn't have put it any better, John.
If Ken Calvert were to be unseated by Will Rollins -- an openly gay candidate -- it would be…
Here in CA-41, Calvert is remembered by many as the guy who launched his political career with homophobia. The infamous pink mailers he sent to voters early in his career that publicly outed Rep. Mark Takano were just the beginning. Now that he’s been redistricted into Palm Springs, he’s trying to walk back his record to soften his appeal.
Calvert blames “the times” for his record and claims he has since changed, but his attacks on the LGBTQ community have not. He voted against the Matthew Shepard hate crimes bill. He voted against gay adoption. He voted to keep us out of the military. Just last year, he voted down the Equality Act, allowing employers to continue to fire employees simply for being LGBTQ.
Sam is right. We can’t think of a stronger rebuke of Calvert's long-standing anti-LGBTQ agenda than by replacing him with an openly gay prosecutor who will uphold the law and fight for equal rights.

It takes a robust grassroots operation to flip competitive seats like ours – we can’t do this without you.
