One Question Survey:
Should Congress focus on long-term aid for natural disaster victims?
YES [[link removed]] NO [[link removed]]
John,
Severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, and wildfires are wreaking havoc on communities across the country. It’s not just a case of bad luck, but the results of climate change reaching a tipping point. And while we can’t control the weather, we can control how we respond to it when towns are decimated by a natural disaster.
When a disaster hits, the 24-hour news media covers it extensively for a few days, but what happens in the weeks and months after a disaster?
While Congress typically steps in to authorize FEMA aid in the immediate aftermath, it takes years for a community to fully recover.
And far too often, those resources run dry long before towns can rebuild, leaving survivors displaced and communities destroyed.
We know that climate change will only create further strain on aid as more frequent, widespread, and extreme natural disasters become our new normal.
So we wanted to ask you, John: Should Congress prioritize long-term aid for natural disaster relief?
