The House of Representatives just impeached Donald Trump.

Today’s historic vote is a result of months (and years) of your activism to hold this lawless president accountable to the American people.

By voting to impeach Trump, I joined a majority of U.S. Representatives to uphold our moral responsibility and our oath of office to protect our Constitution. I voted to impeach Trump not only to defend our democracy, but also to protect my sons and future generations.

Remember: Over the past year, everyone told us this was impossible. Despite that, we did what our Constitution and our consciences demand of us.

We took political risks to do what was right, because Trump was abusing the most powerful position in the world for his own personal gain. And he hasn’t stopped.

This moment is only possible because of you. We’ve shown that when millions of us rise up together, anything is possible.

Whether it’s holding Donald Trump accountable to the American people, demanding fair wages and benefits for millions of U.S. families, or protecting our communities from corporate greed and environmental racism, we’re showing what we can achieve together.

P.S. Our work is not done. As impeachment moves to the Senate, where Leader Mitch McConnell has explicitly vowed to work in lockstep with the White House, it will be up to us to demand a real trial that includes a true review of evidence, the calling of witnesses and the Senate honoring its constitutional duty as a co-equal branch of government. We must also continue investigating Donald Trump’s corruption and abuse of office outside of the two articles passed today. Thank you for all that you’ve done to bring us to this moment.
