On any given night in America, hundreds of thousands of people sleep on the street. The fact is – homelessness is largely a housing problem.

Last year in the House, I introduced my Housing is Essential plan to invest more than $63 billion in new federal affordable housing funding – a significant step toward tackling the crisis.

Our nation is about three million homes short of meeting the demand for homebuyers. Addressing the crisis head-on and building more affordable, safe homes is the only way forward.
