A.G. Holder and President Obama partnered together because they realized what was at stake: democracy, fairness, and the future of our country. The 2016 election and years to follow were a pivotal point in our country.

All was on the line – our rights as Americans were challenged. We knew redistricting was critical to prevent anti-democratic political institutions from silencing voters and jeopardizing progress in our nation. So we built a movement to fight for fair electoral maps and a government that represents us all.

President Obama understood how important our mission was in this push against unfair maps:

"I think people don't completely appreciate how much gerrymandering affects the outcome [of elections. You can draw a district that almost guarantees one party is going to win instead of another because you have voter histories and you have a sense of where people are typically going to vote." -- President Obama
