Final Weekend of Trailhead Direct

We know its smoky out and health warnings are in effect, but we also are still operating the final weekend of Trailhead Direct. Please be careful out there!

Trailhead Direct is a seasonal service that seeks to expand access to hiking destinations along I-90 for King County residents.

Service Change on September 17

King County Metro will revise schedules across its transit network starting Saturday, Sept. 17, to provide better reliability for customers.

The new schedule adjustments will increase reliability, more evenly space out the time between bus trips, and will preserve service where transit demand and needs are greatest.

On Sunday, Sept. 18, the day after Metro’s service change, several routes will return to the West Seattle high bridge once the City of Seattle reopens it to traffic. This will affect *Routes 21/21X, 50, 55, 56, 57, 120, 125 and RapidRide C Line* and is expected to reduce travel time and improve reliability for riders between West Seattle and Downtown Seattle.

Metro's newest Operator and Maintenance Employee of the Year. 

"Operator of the Year 2021 - Terry Moon"

King County Metro bus operator Terry Moon has been awarded the department’s highest honor, 2021 Operator of the Year.  He was chosen by 84 fellow 2021 Operators of the Month as the “best of the best.”

Moon’s advice to his fellow operators:

" “Stay humble to the process. Be good to yourself and it’s easy to be good to others.”"



Moon, a veteran of the U.S. Army, was hired as a part-time operator in 1994 and went full-time in 1997. He’s earned dozens of Safe Driver Awards and 29 rider commendations. “I have loved every bit of this journey,” he said.

"Terry Moon is a model for what we want our transit operators to be,” said Metro General Manager Terry White. “He embodies excellence in this position, from his clear love of our riders to his devotion to safe driving, something that has been recognized by his fellow drivers. Since 1994, he has served the people of our region with exemplary grace and skill, and we are lucky he chose to bring his talents to Metro. Bravo, Terry!”

"Maintenance Employee of the Year 2022 - Robert Dargan"

King County Metro is proud to announce a standout employee in our Vehicle Maintenance Division. Robert Dargan was named Metro’s 2022 Vehicle Maintenance Employee of the Year!

Dargan was surprised with the honor at a ceremony Sept. 8 at Metro’s East Base in Bellevue by King County Executive Dow Constantine, Metro General Manager Terry White and Vehicle Maintenance leadership staff.

Dargan began his career with King County in May 1999 as Transit Mechanic and has been providing excellent service at King County Metro in this position. 

Base Chief Steve Blackwell called Dargan a “go to employee,” well respected by his peers, and always available to mentor others.

Dargan is highly skilled mechanic, consistently performs his work every day and demonstrates his skills and attention to detail. Dargan has a very professional approach to his mechanical duties and is willing to take on hard to find repairs, fleet projects seeing the work through to completion. He adds strength and integrity to our agency and the service Metro provide to the public. Dargan performs cost effective repairs and always steps up to meet the needs of our organization.
