I am beholden to facts and the facts are clear. Donald Trump abused his publicly elected office to bribe a foreign power for political gain. Then he obstructed the impeachment inquiry. 

Those are established facts.

Just now, the House of Representatives did their duty and impeached the President.

At least, the majority did. Kenny Marchant, on the other hand, failed to follow the facts and failed to defend our Constitution. In 2020, we replace him.

For nearly 3 years this country has endured the worst kind of behavior from a mass criminal organization: President Trump and his administration. 

Thousands of lies, backroom deals and meetings with foreign adversaries, and, of course, the embarrassing manner in which our President uses his Twitter account only scratch the surface of what Donald Trump's failed leadership entails. From obstruction of justice to lying to Congress under oath, we know his cronies will stop at nothing to protect him. The good news is that today they can’t.

I stand with Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats in their decision to impeach our corrupt Commander in Chief. When entering their positions of power, the members of Congress swear an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, and today justice has been served. We know that this impeachment process is about restoring the values we as Americans hold dear, despite what the conservative pundits might say. I’m grateful for our party’s leadership and more so, I’m proud to witness this historic day.

We may not know what the path forward looks like, but what we do know is that every Democrat elected is another nail in the coffin of this failed administration.
