Did you know that Election Day 2022 is 60 days away? That means we have—you guessed it—60 days to save our democracy. (Side note: Now is the time to make a plan to vote if you haven’t already!) Also, in 60 days’ time, we’ll bear witness to the power of New American voters in states like Arizona, where almost 64,000 people became citizens between 2016 and 2020. That number is more than SIX times larger than Arizona’s margin in the 2020 presidential election. Here’s to us flexing our power and protecting our democracy this November! 💪🏽💪🏿💪🏼💪🏾

Yesterday, Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a public health emergency in response to the thousands of migrants arriving in the nation’s capital by bus from Arizona and Texas. Since April, more than 7,000 asylum seekers have been bussed in to Washington, D.C. as well as a couple other states where they might not have any support. By continuing to do this, Texas is not only creating further chaos but also fueling and worsening the ongoing humanitarian crisis. It’s time for this to stop.

At the New American Hero Awards on December 1st—our first in-person celebration since 2019!—we’ll be celebrating the incredible leadership and achievements of New Americans across the country.

Then, on Friday, December 2nd, we will bring together New American elected and appointed officials, organizers, government staffers, and campaign leaders at our Power and Policy Summit to discuss some of the most pressing challenges facing our country and share best practices we can implement in our communities.

RSVP today to join us in Washington, D.C. to celebrate our New American Heroes and learn alongside fellow New American leaders at our Power and Policy Summit!

"A lot of the gains that you see are in places where there are investments in new American leadership and new American communities—whether it is voter access or having new Americans on the ballot," Ghida Dagher, president of New American Leaders and New American Leaders Action Fund, told Axios.

New Americans are flexing our growing political power and working to close the representational gap in state legislatures. And while 18 states added at least one New American legislator since 2020, there are still nine states without any New American representation.

Read how we're working to close the gap and empower the next cohort of leaders in this Axios article.

Last week, we held our Ready to Win training in Washington, D.C.—our first in-person Ready to Win in three years—and where do we begin... In just four days, our 29 Ready to Win participants from across the country improved their values-based stump speeches, learned what’s needed to run a winning campaign, and got prepared to run, proving to us that they are ready to change the face of leadership, one seat at a time. THIS is what democracy looks like! ✊🏽✊🏿✊🏼✊🏾

Help fight systemic white supremacy by supporting our mission to get more women, immigrants, and underrepresented Americans on the ballot and into power.
