Veterans Stand Down returns Sept. 24 in Bremerton
Veterans and their families in need of extra support are invited to a the Fall Stand Down, taking place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 24 at the Sheridan Community Center, 680 Lebo Blvd., Bremerton.
Complimentary goods and services will be available including dental and vision screenings, haircuts and assistance with housing, employment, education, counseling, help in connecting to VA claims, benefits and more! Qualifying veterans and family members may also receive free clothing, sleeping bags, groceries, and personal hygiene items.
This event is open to Kitsap County veterans and their immediate families only. Please bring copies of a DD214 form, military retiree ID card, or VA card. Unaccompanied family members must bring a DD214 and proof of relationship.
Those who are active duty transitioning out of the military or retiring by the end of the year are encouraged to attend to gather information and resources to assist in their transition to civilian life and make it as seamless as possible.
Agencies providing services at the Stand Down include the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Social and Health Service, Red Cross, Olympic College, Kitsap Legal Services, Abraham's House, Asset Building Coalition, Housing Solutions Center, WorkSource, Kitsap Community Resources, Kitsap Transit and other Veteran assistance programs.
The event is coordinated by the Kitsap Area Veterans Alliance and Kitsap County Veterans Assistance Program and Veterans Advisory Board.
